About Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati University
Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati University (MDSU), located in Ajmer, Rajasthan, is a prominent public university established on August 1, 1987, following the bifurcation of the University of Rajasthan. Named after the esteemed philosopher and social reformer Maharshi Dayananda Saraswati, the university was initially conceived as an affiliating institution to support teaching and research in its affiliated colleges. In response to the University Grants Commission's requirements, MDSU established its own teaching departments in March 1990 and commenced academic sessions in 1991–92, offering various postgraduate programs. The university's campus, situated near the village of Ghooghra, approximately seven kilometers from Ajmer city, hosts 24 teaching departments encompassing disciplines such as history, political science, botany, zoology, chemistry, environmental studies, computer applications, commerce, management studies, law, education, and yoga. MDSU is affiliated with the University Grants Commission (UGC) and has been accredited with a B++ rating by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) .
