    • Task 1: Write at least 150 words describing, summarizing, or explaining information presented in a graph, table, chart, or diagram.
    • Task 2: Write an essay of at least 250 words in response to a point of view, argument, or problem.
  • Skills Assessed: Writing, organizing ideas, using appropriate language, and supporting arguments with evidence or examples.

Speaking

  • Duration: 11-14 minutes
  • Format:
    • Part 1: Introduction and interview (4-5 minutes).
    • Part 2: Long turn where the candidate speaks on a topic for 2 minutes.
    • Part 3: Discussion on the topic from Part 2 (4-5 minutes).
  • Skills Assessed: Fluency, coherence, pronunciation, grammar, and vocabulary.

Scoring

  • The IELTS is scored on a band scale from 1 (Non-User) to 9 (Expert User). The Chevening Scholarships typically require a minimum overall score of 6.5 to 7.0, with no less than 6.0 in each of the four components.
