Scholarship Exam Details

The Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Vasatigruh Nirvah Bhatta Yojna is a significant welfare scheme initiated by the Directorate of Higher Education, Government of Maharashtra. In 2026, this program continues to provide essential financial relief to students from Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) who are pursuing professional courses but cannot afford the rising costs of accommodation. Specifically, the scheme targets the children of registered laborers and marginal landholder farmers (Alpabhudharak). The financial assistance is designed as a monthly "Nirvah Bhatta" (Maintenance Allowance) to cover hostel and mess expenses for 10 months of the academic year. For students studying in major metropolitan hubs like Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, or Thane, the allowance is as high as ₹30,000 per year. For other districts, it ranges between ₹20,000 and ₹25,000. To be eligible, the student must be a hosteller (living in a government/private hostel or as a tenant/PG) and must have secured admission through the Centralized Admission Process (CAP). This scholarship is a game-changer for rural students aspiring to study in high-cost cities, ensuring that living expenses do not become a barrier to technical and professional degrees
