The KOSPIE (Combined Study and Practice Stays for Engineers) program is an exclusive scholarship for M.Tech and Integrated/Dual Degree students of IITs. Administered by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), it allows Indian scholars to perform their Master's thesis research at one of the elite TU9 Technical Universities in Germany (e.g., RWTH Aachen, TU Dresden, or TU Munich). For 2026, the fellowship provides a comprehensive financial package, including a monthly stipend of €934 (approx. ₹83,000), travel allowances, and insurance. The program typically starts on September 1st and includes a one-month intensive German language course in Germany before the research phase begins. This is one of the most prestigious outbound research opportunities for Indian engineers, offering access to world-class laboratories and potential pathways to a PhD in Germany
