Competitive Exam Details

The United India Insurance Company (UIIC) Assistant examination is a premium, highly anticipated clerical-cadre recruitment drive within the Indian general insurance sector. Operating as a wholly-owned public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Finance, UIIC is one of the pillars of the non-life insurance market. Securing an Assistant position in UIIC is highly coveted because it offers a rock-solid, desk-bound Central PSU career, a five-day workweek, negligible public cash-handling stress (unlike PSB clerks), and an attractive starting gross salary exceeding ₹37,000 per month in metropolitan areas.

Similar to major banking recruitments, the UIIC Assistant vacancies are released on a State/Union Territory basis. Candidates must apply for a specific state and must possess absolute fluency (reading, writing, speaking) in the regional language of that state, verified via a strict Regional Language Test (RLT) prior to final appointment. The examination pattern relies on a fast-paced, two-tier online mechanism conducted by IBPS. The Preliminary Examination is a 60-minute qualifying test with 100 questions covering English Language, Reasoning Ability, and Numerical Ability, governed by strict 20-minute sectional timings.

Candidates navigating the high state-wise Prelims cut-offs are summoned for the Main Examination. The Mains is a grueling 120-minute test consisting of 200 questions (250 marks) covering Reasoning, English, General Awareness, Computer Knowledge, and Numerical Ability. A unique facet of this exam is the absence of any descriptive writing test or personal interview. The final merit list is determined 100% by the objective marks scored in the Main Examination. For graduates seeking a serene, highly secure financial-sector job with excellent promotional avenues up to the Administrative Officer (AO) level, the UIIC Assistant is an exceptional choice.

Q2: Are there sectional cut-offs in the UIIC Assistant examination?
