The Supreme Court of India Junior Court Assistant (JCA) examination is an elite, highly secretive, and incredibly prestigious recruitment drive. Working directly within the premises of the apex court of the country in New Delhi, a JCA handles critical judicial administration, drafting, case filing, and clerical operations supporting the Honorable Judges. This is a premium Group 'B' (Non-Gazetted) post offering a phenomenal Level-6 starting salary (grossing over ₹65,000 per month in Delhi), zero transfer liabilities, supreme job security, and an incredibly highly respected social profile. Because the vacancies are limited, the competition is strictly concentrated among top-tier graduates.
What makes the Supreme Court JCA exam legendary—and terrifying for many candidates—is its intense, same-day, multi-stage examination structure. The entire primary screening is done in a single, exhausting session. It begins with a 2-hour Objective Type Computer Based Test consisting of 100 questions (General English, General Aptitude, General Knowledge, and Computer Knowledge). The paper heavily prioritizes English, assigning it 50% of the total weightage. Immediately following the objective test, candidates must take an Objective Computer Knowledge Test (25 questions).
Without leaving their seats, candidates must then clear a mandatory English Typing Test on the computer at a blistering speed of 35 words per minute. Finally, still on the same day, candidates must handwrite a 2-hour Descriptive Test in English Language (comprising Comprehension, Precis writing, and Essay writing). Candidates who manage to survive and clear the cut-offs for all these same-day hurdles are subsequently called for a Personal Interview. For candidates who are masters of the English language and fast typists, but who struggle with advanced Mathematics, this exam is the ultimate jackpot, as advanced Quantitative Aptitude is virtually non-existent here.
