Competitive Exam Details

The Delhi Police Constable (Executive) recruitment examination is widely regarded as the most prestigious and highly competitive constable-level police exam in India. While Delhi Police functions under the direct jurisdiction of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), the recruitment process is systematically conducted by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC). Because it is a Central Government job, the Delhi Police Constable offers a phenomenal Level-3 salary structure, significantly higher allowances (including metropolitan HRA and Central CGHS medical facilities), and the immense tactical advantage of a permanent posting within the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi, eliminating the stress of state-wide transfers.

The recruitment process is fiercely contested and is divided into two primary stages. The first stage is a 90-minute Computer Based Test (CBT) consisting of 100 objective-type questions. The paper is strategically divided into four sections: General Knowledge/Current Affairs (50 questions), Reasoning (25 questions), Numerical Ability (15 questions), and Computer Fundamentals (10 questions). The defining feature of this exam is the colossal 50% weightage given to General Knowledge and Current Affairs, making it virtually impossible to clear the exam without a daily, rigorous habit of reading current events and static GK.

Candidates who clear the stringent cut-offs of the CBT are summoned by the Delhi Police for the Physical Endurance and Measurement Test (PE&MT), which is held exclusively in Delhi. The physical standards are tough and non-negotiable, requiring male candidates to complete a 1.6 km run in 6 minutes, alongside long jump and high jump events. Furthermore, a valid driving license is a strict prerequisite for male candidates before they even step onto the physical ground. For 12th-pass male and female candidates across the nation, securing the Delhi Police Khaki is a matter of profound pride, offering unparalleled exposure to capital-level policing, VIP security, and advanced law enforcement infrastructure.
